1st Pair of Shoes

Reese got her first pair of shoes.  Since the weather is getting cooler and we are getting fed up with her pulling her socks off all the time, we figured shoes would solve the problem.  For now she hasn't figured out how to take her shoes off, but she does like to play with them when they are on her feet.

We got her a pair of Pedipeds since they are soft soled and are the recommended brand of podiatrists.  Supposedly you can mess their tiny little feet up by putting the hard soled shoes on them too young.  I don't know if this is true or not, but it makes since to me.

Reese also had her 6 month old photo shoot.  The photographer said she broke the record for number of smiles, and she never got fussy.  Apparently most babies start crying after just a few backdrop/position changes but Reese was happy through them all.  I hope she continues to be such a happy baby!  And I can't wait to see how the pictures turned out!

Roselawn Arts & Crafts Festival

This weekend Lee and my dad had a booth at the annual Roselawn Arts & Crafts Festival.  They displayed their wood turnings... such things as wood bowls, pens, Christmas ornaments, bottle stoppers, baby rattles, etc.  They turn these things on a piece of machinery called a lathe.  Lee did demonstrations on the mini lathe so people could see how it worked.  Here he is turning a pen.

They used my dad's civil war tent to display their artwork under.

Here are some of Lee's Christmas ornaments.  They are birdhouses with a perch and little bird too.  I really like them.  I would love for Lee to make enough to cover our entire Christmas tree this year!

My photogenic father...

Reese LOVES to be outside!  She has started grabbing handfulls of grass and dirt so we really have to watch her.  She LOVES all animals, but especially likes watching the dogs and birds.  She knows exactly what a humming bird chirp sounds like and immediately starts looking around for one when she hears it.

Shower for Kelly

This past Sunday I helped give a baby shower for my cousin's wife, Kelly.  She is due with baby Katelyn in mid to late October.  She's getting so close!

Reese looked adorable in her alligator dress and had lots of fun being passed around from person to person!  So far she seems to really like people.

We had an all dessert buffet.  Kelly has been craving sweets her entire pregnancy, so why not indulge her for 1 day.  The menu consisted of homemade petit-fores, chocolate pound cake, applesauce cake, fruit, chocolate triffle, mints, and punch.  Yummy!  We kept things simple, but the shower turned out very nice.

Reese and cousin Adahlyn who starated crying when my mom said she was going to take her pacifier away from her - HA! HA!

Move over Sarah Palin...

Here Reese comes to join the campaign trail!  Think America will love her just as much?

Reese loves to sit up, so she is now interested in toys that help her do just that.  She loves the donut stacker; although she gets board with it fairly quickly.  She really enjoys toys that make noise and have buttons for her to push.  We're going to have to get her more toys to keep her busy!

Cousin Adahlyn came over last weekend.  They had fun playing in the basement.  Lee needs to get on the ball and child-proof down there.
