TIME article

I'm so excited! I just had to post a link to this TIME article! This is a subject I am very passionate about... for obvious reasons. The media is finally putting this information out to the masses! A great step in the right direction! Hopefully we will start seeing more articles like this so less women will fall victim to the system.

Potty Time on Valentine's Day

Reese used her new potties for the 1st time on Valentine's Day.   How sweet!!  Lee and I just purchased 2 training potties for Reese and decided to let our almost 11 month old try them out.  She instinctively knew what to do... she pooped in it almost immediately!  How awesome is that!  Then later on that night she peed in it again.  (hope no one gets grossed out by the picture!)

Hoping it wasn't a fluke, we tried again today...... and she peed in her potty 4 different times!  Now we know she isn't potty trained yet or anything, but she definitely knows what a potty is for and is willing to use it.  Each time we sit her down on it, we give her the sign for 'potty' in hopes that she will eventually be able to tell us when she needs to go.  Babies are absolutely incredible!

Valentine's Day:

Reese waking up on Valentine's Day

I woke Lee & Reese up that morning with the 1st clue of the treasure hunt I had planned for them.  They were sent all over the house finding clue after clue and gifts along the way.  Reese got a pair of pajamas and a cookie jar toy.  Lee got candy and Rock Band 2 (which he has been wanting for a long time but I kept telling him 'no')  Lee gave me my Valentine's Day gift a few weeks ago.  I had been needing a new cell phone so he got me a smartphone that has a great calendar feature that I can keep track of everyone's appointments and schedules with.

We went out for a nice lunch later in the day.  I was given a long stem carnation by our waiter (in honor of Valentine's Day of course) but Reese quickly destroyed it.  There were petals and stem pieces all around our booth.  Such love and delicate tendencies our child has.  ;-)

Reese had a great 1st Valentine's Day!!!

Piggy Tails & Play Time

While Reese was in the tub a few nights ago, I decided to try something new with her hair.  I wasn't sure if it was long enough, but sure enough!  I can do piggy tails now!!!

Not bad for a moving baby!

Last week we had Tess, Brett & Adahlyn over for supper.  The food was good, the company was great, and of course the girls had a blast playing together.  They got their baths and followed that up with some pre-bedtime wrestling.

Adahlyn was quick to pounce on Reese, but Reese quickly used her strong legs to send Adahlyn flying backwards.  The girls were cracking up the whole time.... and we were right there to make sure neither of them got hurt.  It was all in good fun.

It's February already???!!!

I've haven't been doing a very good job this year at keeping the blog updated.  We have been so busy.... and so much has been going on.  Lee's parents came down for a spur of the moment trip 2 weeks ago.  They hadn't been down to see us since last July (I think).  Reese enjoyed spending time with her Barron and Poppy.

Reese is mobile and is in to EVERYTHING!  She doesn't crawl.... she scoots on her little hieney.  It is quite funny to watch!  (I will try to upload a video of the booty scoot later.)  The doctor said they are seeing more of this style of movement in babies: they think it is due to the popularity of hard wood flooring, which we have a lot of in our house.  She pulls herself up on anything she can get a good grip of and then tries to cruise around.  Reese loves to pull every item off a shelf, empty a box, and leave a trail of toys all around the house.  She has also become quite the little thief.  Whenever she can, she tries to break into her diaper bag to steal Puffs (Puffs are little snack bites of flavored whole grains....that she LOVES)

This is a picture of her doing the booty scoot.  Her arms go up in the air and she pulls her feet towards her.... and she hops along.  The cloth diaper also helps, I'm sure, as it gives her rear some extra padding.
